Thermo Fisher’s paid time off programs are designed to provide time away from work when you need it most. Thermo Fisher offers paid parental, bereavement and military leaves, paid time off for jury duty and paid time off to cover vacation, sick time and personal time.

Bereavement Leave

In the event of the death of an immediate family member, you are eligible for up to five consecutive workdays off with pay.

In the event of the death of a non-immediate family member, you are eligible for up to three consecutive workdays off with pay.

Company Holidays

We observe 10 company-paid holidays per year — seven company-designated plus three floating holidays. Seven company holidays will be observed by all Thermo Fisher businesses this year:

  • New Year’s Day
  • Memorial Day
  • Independence Day
  • Labor Day
  • Thanksgiving
  • Day after Thanksgiving
  • Christmas Day

Floating holidays are designated by site level management for plant shutdown and maintenance purposes.

Jury Duty

Colleagues are paid for the duration of their required service.

Military Leave

For eligible colleagues who make the honorable commitment to serve our country, Thermo Fisher supplements military pay so you continue to receive an amount equal to your normal base wage for up to five years.

Paid Time Off (PTO)

Because time away from your job is an important part of the work/life balance. Our PTO program provides time off to cover vacation, sick time and personal time. In addition to PTO and company holidays, there are policies that provide separate time off for leaves of absence, bereavement, jury duty and military leave. If you are a member of a collective bargaining group, please refer to your collective bargaining agreement for paid time off details.

PTO Donation Program

In hardship cases, we provide opportunities for colleagues to help one another by donating up to 80 hours per calendar year to a recipient.  Note: This program is not available for CRG colleagues.

Parental Leave

We continue your salary at full pay during designated caregiver and bonding leave periods, which begin on the date of birth or date your child is placed in the home for adoption.

Primary caregivers are eligible for both Caregiver Leave (8 weeks) and Bonding Leave (3 weeks) for a total of 11 paid weeks. Secondary caregivers will be provided 3 weeks of paid Bonding Leave. If you are a member of a collective bargaining group, please refer to your collective bargaining agreement for details on your leave.
